Al Mu'iz

From the same root as al-ʿAzīz, in the shape that passes it on: to be strengthened, made hard to reach, given weight. The Qur’an puts the act in a sentence rather than in a name — You give honour to whom You will and You bring low whom You will — in the same ayah that gives this list Mālik al-Mulk.

The one ayah on this page carrying the written form is not this name at all: it is al-maʿz, the goats, in a passage about which livestock had been forbidden. The same letters spell two unrelated things, and the search compares letters. Honour that can be given can also be given to somebody you would not have picked, and ranking people was never a task anyone was assigned.
