The Loving One

Reflection
Wudd is love expressed — not the feeling but the showing of it; Arabic keeps a separate word for what stays inside. From the same root comes wadda, to wish, the wanting that leans towards a thing.
The single ayah carrying this form is three words long, and it comes near the end of Sūrat al-Burūj, a surah whose earlier ayat describe people burned for nothing but believing. Forgiving, and then loving: al-Ghafūr al-Wadūd. That order, in that place, is worth sitting with.
