At Tawwaab

Tāba is to turn back, and the Qur’an uses the same verb of the person returning and of the one they return to — one word, travelling in both directions, which is unusual enough to be worth a moment.

Every ayah carrying this written form has ar-Raḥīm beside it, six times out of six. Four of them are in Sūrat al-Baqara, and one of those is Ibrāhīm and Ismāʿīl asking for it while they are raising the foundations of the House — the turning back is not only for people who have gone wrong. Turning round is the whole of what the word asks for.
