Al Baseer

Baṣar is sight, and baṣīra — the same root — is insight, the seeing an eye cannot do on its own. The Qur’an uses the second for the kind of clarity a person then acts on.

Four of the nine ayat carrying this written form have as-Samīʿ standing immediately before it, and three of the nine fall in Sūrat Ghāfir. As with as-Samīʿ, one of them is about people rather than about God: the blind and the seeing, asked whether they are alike. Work that nobody notices is not therefore unnoticed.
