Al Ghafoor

The same root as al-Ghaffār, in the form that speaks of depth rather than of repetition — a covering that goes all the way down instead of one that comes round often.

In eight of the eleven ayat carrying this written form, mercy is the word standing next to it: ar-Raḥīm follows it seven times and precedes it once. Of the remaining three, one has al-ʿAzīz before it and one has al-Wadūd after it, the loving. Whatever you were about to apologise for is smaller than the covering being offered.
